Hi Hello
& Welcome

Hi,
My name is Roy, I am 44 years old.
I,m married with 4 children and live in the small town of Thorne in the north of England, I am about 8 miles north of our main town of Doncaster.
I have several interests that I try to combine were ever posible, they are Amateur Radio, Camping and Caravaning, and Walking / Hiking.
I started on radio in late 1978 on C.B. ( 11m), and over the years I have been on and of air many times, but keep coming back to the hobby.
I became a Radio Amateur at the end of November 2005 after some gentle persuasion from a good friend of mine Bill 2E1SKA, and although I mostly operate on 2m as a mobile I do occasionally work most of the HF bands from my QTH.
My main radio is an Icom 706mk11G, with 2 Comet 2m + 70cm colinears ( one on vhf and one on uhf),
a half size G5RV for 6m & 4m (resonent to1-1.6 on 4m), and a Radio Works 80m Windom Special for HF, and LDG Z 100 ATU.
Mobile I have an Yeasu FTM10R with a tri- band antenna, and for QRP portable I have a Yeasu 817 which I use with a Miricle Whip antenna.
I have been interested in camping since my early teens, when I started atending camping holidays with the Boys Brigade, and then cycling and camping with friends. But as needs have changed most trips are now with a caravan and only occasionally under canvas. Links for some of the sites we have visited will be available soon on the Links page.
Hiking is something that I have been interested in since I was 13 years of age when I started the Duke of Edinburgh Award Sceme were hiking and camping (Experdition) were one of the main parts. I enjoy walking in most teraing wether its open countryside or hill and fells.
